Topic Paper - ADHDWhen you make your original topic paper for ADHD, you need to ask yourself some questions to be sure you have the best research for the topic. If you know your subject well, it will be easier for you to come up with ideas for this and the other side of the topic. As you go through the process of selecting the topic for your paper, you will come up with a lot of ideas.The idea for this paper actually came to me when I was asked to speak at a children's therapy conference being held by one of my children's parents. This parent had never heard of ADHD or behavior therapy but her son had been receiving counseling since he was seven years old.In order to come up with topics that would interest this woman, I took the idea for this paper topic to a group of books that I am reviewing. It was while reading this that I started to get a better idea of the issues that need to be addressed in this situation.By going through all the books that I reviewed, I came up with two main points that I feel need to be addressed in this situation and that is a behavior therapy and an alternative behavior therapy. The alternative therapy works very well with children that have social anxiety and/or lack control in their social relationships. I feel that if we are going to deal with the symptoms of ADHD, we have to treat all of the symptoms and not just the ADHD ones.With that being said, I feel that the topic of behavior therapy has a lot of merit. We should be able to apply the behavior therapy to help with the social skills, as well as to help the problem areas that are affecting the social abilities of the child. The next topic I will cover for this paper will focus on other strategies that can be used to help improve the behaviors of this child.Another topic that I was asked to address at the seminar is to look at whether or not it is possible to establish a condition diagnosis of ADHD. This has become a very heated topic for many reasons and will be discussed in a future article. For now, I will simply say that there are several forms of conditions that may be classified as ADHD and that a child may also be diagnosed with one of those disorders as well.One thing that all conditions share is that the doctor can use measures like the scales that measure hyperactivity or inattention and also the questionnaires to determine which of the disorders you are dealing with. You need to remember that this disorder can exist without having a diagnosable disorder, but it could also have a form of it and that will have to be determined with additional testing and observation.Finally, a person that needs to know about the topic of ADHD will be a parent that is involved in this issue. Children with ADHD will have to be treated in order to be successful and this means that they need to be taught the proper behaviors and routines that will assist them in life. They can learn from books, videotapes, CDs, and other forms of learning materials that are available .
